Jack Black-MPV

Often we see reviews on items that women use because they make up a majority of the population that spends money on items in the beauty industry, but we can't forget the men! So here is a Man's Point of View.
Jack Black is a company based in North Texas that was started in 2000 and focuses on giving men practical and pampering products. My husband uses several items from their line and has fast made them part of his routine (not bad for a man who generally uses the same product for face, hair, and body). You can find their products at getjackblack.com and sephora.com.

The first product that made it into our house was the Intense Therapy Lip Balm ($7.50 for .25 oz) which I bought based on various other rave reviews of the product. I fast fell in love and so did my husband. He loves that it's moisturizing without any shine and comes in flavors/scents that aren't overly feminine and doesn't sit heavy on the lips without gathering in the corners. Jack Black uses avocado oil, shea butter, vitamin E, and green tea along with providing an SPF of 25.

Next was the Beard Lube Conditioning Shave ( $11 for 3oz, $17 for 6oz, or $33 for 16oz) which we originally got as a sample from Sephora and hubby fast fell in love with the jojoba oil and macadamia nut oil laden shave cream. By far, the best shaving product he's used (and he's gone through quite many over the years, from the typical foaming gels in aerosol cans like Gillette to more creamy products like The Body Shop's Maca Root Shave Cream), he was pleased that it provided a cushion to product his skin but didn't sacrifice a close shave. He's had much less razor burn, ingrowns and nicks because the Beard Lube lets him see where the razor is going-the product isn't clear but he just has to use a thin layer, it doesn't foam so its more akin to shaving with a lotion or balm.

While his shaving has become much easier, my husband noticed that skin around and under his beard, as well as the beard itself, had started to become dry so we picked up the Epic Moisture MP10 Nourishing Oil ($32 for 2oz). This isn't a heavy oil and doesn't leave a greasy residue on the skin, the fragrance is very light and clean smelling, spreads easily, and a little goes a long way. My husband also uses this in his beard as he's found that when the hair is moisturized it's more manageable. He'd tried using conditioner but it didn't quite do the trick. The biggest drawback about the oil is the price, though he uses it most days (some days he needs a little bit heavier moisturizer), has had the current bottle for three months, and has only used half.

The most recent Black Jack purchase is the Sleek Finish Texture Cream ($17 for 4oz) which was another product to help his beard. The hair is rather course and has a good wave in it, so I thought this would help keep down the frizz and help give it more of the shape he wanted. He really loves the Texture Cream because its not heavy like a hair gel and doesn't get crusty or flaky, doesn't weight down the hair like a wax or pomade, and has a really light fragrance that dissipates quickly. The one drawback about this is that he does have to give it a refresher towards the end of the day so it's doesn't have an all day hold. It has lanolin oil, lavender, rosemary, olive, and jojoba seed oil.
