Predictably the theme for February's Ipsy bag has something to do with Valentine's Day. Called the "Look of Love", the pink bag with the pink leopard interior comes with five items this month.
This is what I got this month-Four items are full size and one is a deluxe sample-
Pop Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal-full size $16 |
IPKN NY Moist & Firm BB cream-deluxe sample |
City Color Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon-full size-$2.99 |
Tini Beauty Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow in Ambrosia-full size-$18 |
Zoya Nail Polish in Dot from Spring Collection currently on per-order-full size-$9 |
My First Thoughts
I love Zoya and Dot is not one I already own so I was excited about that. I did a swatch of the color. In the picture, the first nail is bare, second has one coat, and third has two coats. Its a little streaky so will need at least two coats, probably even three. This was done on a bare nail.
Please excuse the horrible shape of my cuticles...its a rest day for may nails, they'll get done tonight. |
I'm happy with the blush, cream eyeshadow, and lip gloss-all items are in shades that work with my skin tone too. The blush is a little chalky but once you buff it out a bit it looks good, and the color payoff is amazing so use a light had with this.
The eye shadow is creamy and will work as a base (creams are usually good about not creasing and being tacky enough to hold on to powder eye shadow colors) or just an all over lid color blended out towards the eye brow. The smell is the only thing I'd caution you on-it smells like the bubbles you buy at the dollar store with the little plastic wand in it-though it does dissipate after the product dries.
The lip gloss is touted as a plumper but I didn't have any tingling, nor did I notice any difference in my lips. It wears like a lip gloss but looks almost like a lipstick so I would recommend checking a mirror when you put this on.The packaging on the top of the wand (black part) is similar in feel as Nars packaging, so I imagine it'll be a magnet for fingerprints and dirt. There is a slight rubber smell to it, though the gloss itself smells vanilla-y.
The BB cream is the only thing I was a little disappointed in and that's because its very dark! The shade I got was 02 Light but as you can see in the swatch below, it's rather darker than what you imagine a Light shade to be. The feel is nice and the coverage seems to be more full than the average BB cream.
Left to right: BB cream, Pop lip gloss, Eyetini eye shadow, and City Color Blush |
The total value of this bag is $45.99 for everything except the BB cream which was a deluxe sample size. Not bad considering Ipsy subscriptions are only $10 a month and includes shipping!
